The Pennines, often called the "backbone of England," traverse several northern counties, including Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire.
Forecasters are also warning of a growing risk of flooding, especially in western and southern parts of Britain. This concern stems from persistent wet weather patterns predicted to continue through January and into February, with some regions possibly receiving over 100mm of rain in the next ten days.
