Work has officially commenced on the significant £100 million Eden Project development in Morecambe. Visitors can anticipate accessing a portion of the attraction as early as next year, with the full unveiling scheduled for winter 2028.
The initial phase, the Bring Me Sunshine Garden, is set to open its doors in spring 2027. This free-to-enter space will boast tall Austrian pine trees, a wildflower meadow, and a unique shell-shaped pavilion that harvests rainwater and doubles as an outdoor classroom. This garden made its debut at the 2026 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The main attraction, 'The Elder Tree', stands at an impressive 65 feet, guiding visitors through a narrative of nature restoration. Two distinct experiences, The Realm of the Sun and The Realm of the Moon, will offer contrasting environments, from a vibrant future landscape to a darker, immersive rockpool setting. These realms will be connected via Metronome, the ticketing area.
The Pears Foundation has contributed £2.5 million towards the project's habitations zone. This key area will feature four distinct immersive spaces: High Street, Market, Farm, and Town Square. These zones will explore local adaptations and global innovations for planetary impact. Additionally, the site will include a 750-capacity Tidal Theatre, a 300-capacity restaurant, and a shop, alongside plans for hanging plants, mini gardens, a multi-sensory area, and a waterfall.
