Summary
- Ecollectiv initiative wins 3 awards at 2025 Just Style Excellence Awards
- Localized circular upcycling model reduces textile waste
- Project empowers women through employment and capacity-building

In 2025, Ecollectiv, an initiative developed by Yeşim Group in collaboration with the Uludağ Soroptimist Club and the Karapınar Women's Cooperative, has been recognized across three categories at the Just Style Excellence Awards. The initiative demonstrates how a comprehensive approach to textile waste can drive both environmental sustainability and social transformation.
Ecollectiv's localized circular upcycling model has been awarded for its significant reduction in textile waste. The project captures a substantial portion of Yeşim Group's textile waste and reintegrates it into the economy as new, value-added products, such as bags, baskets, and pet beds. By keeping the entire upcycling process within the Bursa community, Ecollectiv minimizes transportation and carbon emissions, setting a practical example for other manufacturers seeking to implement circularity.
The initiative has also been recognized for its focus on empowering women in a region where economic opportunities are often limited. The Karapınar Women's Cooperative is central to the project's success, with women responsible for transforming textile waste into finished products. Ecollectiv has provided employment to 100 women and generated TRY220,250 in direct payments, supporting the women, their families, and the broader community.
Beyond financial empowerment, Ecollectiv invests in capacity-building through ongoing training and awareness programs, equipping women with knowledge and confidence to participate fully in economic and social life. The project's inclusive approach extends to young volunteers and diverse stakeholders, creating an environment where women's skills and leadership are recognized and celebrated.
Ecollectiv's multi-stakeholder approach and commitment to community empowerment have been instrumental in driving its social impact. The initiative brings together Yeşim Group employees, local NGOs, suppliers, and volunteers from different age groups, ensuring that the benefits are widely distributed and the community is actively engaged in every stage of the process.
