Summary
- Mr. Habben to lead Durrell's mission to save species from extinction
- Longtime curator Matt Goetz leaving to spend more time with family
- Goetz's "tremendous legacy" at Durrell praised

In a significant transition at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the organization has appointed a new director to lead its mission. Mr. Habben, who was previously involved in the Blean Bison project at Wildwood Trust, will now take the helm at Durrell.
Commenting on his new role, Mr. Habben expressed his excitement to "bring that approach to lead the highly qualified and passionate team who deliver every day on Durrell's mission to save species from extinction." His appointment comes as the trust also announced the departure of its interim director of zoo operations and curator of herpetology, Matt Goetz.
After 24 years of dedicated service, Mr. Goetz will be leaving Durrell early next year to become the curator of herpetology and aquarium for Wilhelma Zoo Stuttgart. In a statement, Goetz cited the opportunity to spend more time with and support his elderly parents as the primary reason for his decision. Durrell's CEO, Ms. Brewer, praised Goetz's "tremendous legacy" at the trust.
The transition at Durrell's leadership signals a significant shift in the organization's future, as it continues its vital work to protect endangered species and restore natural habitats.
