The registry is designed to align with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, facilitating the transparent registration and exchange of carbon credits. It incorporates an AI-powered deforestation monitoring system utilizing satellite imagery to protect the vital Congo Basin, the world's second-largest carbon sink. Furthermore, blockchain-based traceability systems will ensure compliance with sustainability standards and combat illegal resource exploitation.
This Public-Private Partnership, involving the DRC's Ministries of Environment and Digital Economy alongside private partners M & M Greentech and TRST01, emphasizes local capacity building and data sovereignty. The initiative represents a declaration of sovereignty and climate justice, ensuring the Congo Basin is valued through transparent, verifiable systems that promote sustainable finance based on measurable impact.
