- Drains must be kept clear of plastic to prevent waterlogging and pollution.
- Home composting demonstration offered to turn wet waste into manure.

Dibrugarh is intensifying its focus on responsible waste management through an awareness program by the Municipal Corporation and Shrishti NGO. This initiative aims to educate residents across various city wards on proper waste handling.
The program highlights the importance of segregating waste at the source into four distinct categories: wet, dry, hazardous, and special care. Participants are informed about the positive environmental and health impacts of effective waste management.
Community members are being advised against discarding materials like plastic bags and bottles into drains, which contributes to significant waterlogging and pollution issues, especially during the monsoon.
Practical guidance on home composting is being offered. This method allows residents to convert wet waste into valuable manure, thereby decreasing the overall waste burden and promoting a more sustainable lifestyle at the household level.
DMC mayor Saikat Patra stated the drive is ongoing and will expand to more wards. He stressed that household segregation is crucial for the efficiency of collection and disposal systems, contributing to a cleaner city. A representative from Shrishti NGO noted that community involvement is key to success and encourages residents to be active participants in maintaining Dibrugarh's cleanliness.
