30 Apr
Summary
- April temperatures averaged 37°C, lower than last year's 39°C.
- Rainfall this April was the highest since 2008, bringing cleaner air.
- Nine days saw temperatures exceed 40°C, with three heatwave days.

This April in Delhi was marked by cooler average temperatures and improved air quality compared to previous years. The mean maximum temperature registered at 37 degrees Celsius, lower than last April's 39 degrees Celsius, although still above the long-period average. Intermittent rain and overcast skies, totaling 30mm, contributed to making this the wettest April since 2008.
Despite the overall cooler conditions, Delhi experienced nine days where the temperature surpassed 40 degrees Celsius. Three of these days, specifically between April 23 and 25, were declared heatwave days, with the mercury peaking at 42.8 degrees Celsius on April 24, the hottest April day in four years.
The meteorological conditions also positively impacted air quality. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) was 179.4, lower than in April 2025 and 2024. Dust and ozone were identified as the primary pollutants, with wind aiding in their dispersion.
