Delhi Gasps: Stage IV Pollution Curbs Halt City Life
13 Dec
Summary
- Stage IV pollution curbs implemented across Delhi-NCR immediately.
- Truck entry to Delhi completely stopped, with exceptions.
- Construction, demolition, and most commercial activities suspended.

The Commission for Air Quality Management has invoked Stage IV emergency pollution curbs across Delhi-NCR as air quality has deteriorated sharply, with the AQI surpassing the 450-mark. These highest-level restrictions are in addition to previously enacted measures.
Transportation is significantly impacted, with a complete ban on the entry of most trucks into Delhi and restrictions on light commercial vehicles. Within the city, older diesel vehicles face movement bans, with exemptions limited to essential services. All construction and demolition activities, including major infrastructure projects, have been suspended to mitigate dust emissions.
Educational institutions may shift to online or hybrid modes, and both government and private offices are directed to operate at 50% capacity, with the remainder working from home. Further emergency measures, such as closing colleges and implementing odd-even vehicle schemes, are under consideration by state governments.
