Industry Emission Curbs Tightened for Delhi-NCR
22 Feb
Summary
- 50 mg/Nm³ PM emission limit for 17 polluting industrial sectors.
- Large/medium industries must comply by August 1, 2026.
- Revised standards aim to reduce particulate pollution in Delhi-NCR.

Seventeen highly polluting industrial sectors, including red category units and metal industries, will soon face a stricter particulate matter (PM) emission limit of 50 milligrams per normal cubic metre (mg/Nm³).
Large and medium-scale industries are mandated to comply with this revised standard starting August 1, 2026. Other industries have an extended deadline until October 1, 2026, to implement the necessary changes.
State pollution control boards and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) are tasked with ensuring these directives are implemented promptly and stakeholders are informed. This initiative by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) targets industrial stack emissions, a major contributor to particulate pollution in the Delhi-NCR region.
