17 Oct
Summary
- 86 mechanized sweepers, 300 water sprinklers, and 362 anti-smog guns deployed citywide
- Authorities monitoring construction sites, vehicles, industries, and waste burning
- Targeting 100% coverage with PUSA decomposer to prevent stubble burning
As of October 17th, 2025, Delhi's comprehensive winter anti-pollution plan is now fully operational. Authorities have stepped up efforts across various fronts, including dust control, vehicle enforcement, industry monitoring, and waste management, to combat the city's seasonal air pollution crisis.
Dust control measures have been intensified, with 86 mechanized sweepers, 300 water sprinklers, and 362 anti-smog guns deployed citywide. Construction sites above 3,000 square meters are required to use anti-smog guns, and 698 km of roadside paving and 85 km of central verge greening have been completed.
On the vehicular front, 578 teams are checking for PUC certificates, visible smoke, and idling violations. Parking fees have been increased during GRAP Stages III and IV to discourage private vehicle use, and polluting goods vehicles are being monitored at city borders.
In the industrial and power sectors, all units in Delhi are operating on PNG, with only emission-compliant DG sets allowed. Joint inspections by DPCC and DSIIDC continue to monitor unauthorized fuel use.
To prevent garbage and biomass burning, 443 patrol teams are operating 24/7, and 136.27 lakh tons of legacy waste have been biomined, with no landfill fires reported in 2025. Waste-to-energy and biogas projects are also being expanded.
Ahead of Diwali, authorities have announced that only green crackers will be allowed on October 18th and 19th at licensed sites, with QR-coded verification and strict enforcement against illegal or non-compliant stock.
The city is also targeting 100% coverage with PUSA decomposer to prevent stubble burning, with 11 day and 5 night patrols, supported by real-time mobile reporting. Additionally, 1,407 RWAs have received heaters to prevent bonfires.
With a comprehensive, science-backed, and fully coordinated plan, Delhi is entering the winter season with a laser-focus on dust, vehicles, waste, firecrackers, and on-ground enforcement to ensure cleaner air for its citizens.
