6 May
Summary
- Delhi's first comprehensive bird atlas will be released next month.
- The atlas details 235 bird species found across Delhi.
- Surveys were conducted across seven clusters and 145 subcells.

Delhi's government will launch the Capital's first "Bird Atlas" next month as part of its annual Van Mahotsav celebrations. This comprehensive book details the city's bird diversity, including species and their distribution.
The atlas is based on extensive surveys conducted since last year. Three surveys have been completed, documenting 235 bird species in Delhi. A fourth survey is currently underway and will conclude on June 30. Ministers from both Delhi and central governments are expected to attend the launch.
Prepared by Delhi's forest and wildlife department in collaboration with various birding organizations, the atlas aims to provide a baseline for future comparisons. Subsequent editions are planned to monitor whether bird counts and diversity increase or decrease over time, aiding conservation efforts.
