Data from the Central Pollution Control Board's Sameer app indicated that Nehru Nagar experienced the most severe pollution with an AQI of 360. This situation saw 21 stations reporting 'very poor' air quality, while 14 were in the 'poor' category and two in the 'moderate' range.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, warning of dense fog expected during the morning and forenoon, alongside a forecast for a cold day. Cold day conditions occur when maximum temperatures are significantly below normal. This follows January 6, when Delhi experienced its first cold day of the year, a condition predicted to persist.
The minimum temperature on the morning of January 7 was recorded at 8.6 degrees Celsius, slightly above the seasonal average. The maximum temperature is anticipated to reach around 15 degrees Celsius, with relative humidity levels at 95% in some areas. Various weather stations recorded minimum temperatures, with Safdarjung at 8.6 degrees Celsius and Lodhi Road at 7.7 degrees Celsius.
