Deer Found Dead on Roadside Sparks Speculation

A spotted deer was discovered deceased on the roadside near Upar Bazar in the Maithon region on Sunday morning. The finding drew attention as the animal's carcass lay beside the road with its stomach torn open.

Several stray dogs were seen near the body, suggesting it had been there for some time. The presence of a protected wild animal's remains on a busy road led to speculation among residents.

Assistant conservator of forests A K Manjul indicated that a road accident is the most likely cause of death. The carcass was transported for a post-mortem examination and subsequently buried. The forest department plans to investigate the deer's origin and the precise cause of its demise, promising further action if any irregularities are found.
