The second phase of the 18th Dastak Youth Festival commenced on Friday, emphasizing environmental awareness and student-led sustainability efforts. The initiative seeks to engage the public through innovative methods, including the formation of eco clubs in at least 55 colleges. These clubs will drive creative outreach programs centered on crucial environmental topics.
Students will spearhead awareness campaigns on vital issues such as water conservation, environmental protection, effective waste management, and the promotion of eco-tourism. This approach, supported by the UP tourism department and other organizations, aims to foster behavioral change by empowering young individuals to become powerful agents of environmental action.
Festival co-founder Sangita Jaiswal highlighted the festival's objective to convert campuses into centers for environmental action, motivating young citizens towards a sustainable future, especially in light of climate concerns and water scarcity. The festival's closing ceremony is scheduled for March 21, coinciding with World Forest Day, where winning teams will be recognized for their contributions.
