Cyclone Alert: Ports Hoist Warning Signals
26 Oct
Summary
- Multiple ports are on high alert with warning signals hoisted.
- A low-pressure area has intensified into a cyclone precursor.
- The cyclone is predicted to make landfall on October 28.

Warning signals have been hoisted at numerous ports, including Chennai, Ennore, Kattupalli, Cuddalore, Thoothukudi, Pamban, Puducherry, Nagapattinam, and Karaikal. These measures are in place due to the intensification of a weather system over the Bay of Bengal.
The low-pressure area, which formed over the central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, has developed into a well-marked low-pressure area as of Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts it will further strengthen into a depression and then a deep depression by Sunday.
By Monday, the system is expected to develop into a cyclone. Forecasters indicate it will move west-northwestwards and intensify further. The projected landfall is near Andhra Pradesh, over the central-west Bay of Bengal, on the morning of October 28.
