City Launches Novel Waste Drives for Homes & Temples
7 Jul
Summary
- New drives target bulky household waste and temple offerings.
- QR codes will be used for registration and guidelines.
- Initiatives aim to prevent pollution and improve waste disposal.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) is introducing citizen-centric programs to revolutionize waste management. Starting Wednesday, QR codes will provide registration details and guidelines for two new initiatives.
The 'Bulky Household Waste Collection Drive' is set to operate every Saturday across all CMC circles. This service will collect large domestic items, including old furniture and mattresses, that do not fit regular waste disposal channels. The goal is to prevent illegal dumping in open spaces and waterways.
Additionally, the 'Divine Waste Collection Drive' focuses on the environmentally sound disposal of religious offerings from temples. Designated collection points will be established at participating temples. After collection, these materials will undergo a customary ritual before trained volunteers dismantle and segregate them for recycling.
