Cornwall Celebrates 5 Years of Greening with Free Trees

The Forest for Cornwall project is commemorating its fifth anniversary with a public celebration and a giveaway of free trees. Launched in December 2019, the initiative has made substantial progress in increasing Cornwall's tree canopy. Approximately 1.6 million trees have been planted to date, with plans for further expansion across more than 500 hectares.
The anniversary event, timed with National Tree Week, will take place at Tincombe Park in Saltash. Activities will include the highly anticipated tree giveaway, alongside a willow weaving workshop, hedgerow planting, and an informative walk along the Tincombe Tree Trail.
Councillor Loic Rich emphasized the ecological and health benefits of tree planting, noting their role in creating habitats for wildlife, improving air quality, and preventing environmental issues like flooding and soil erosion. He extended gratitude to all contributors to the project's success.
