Cornwall Council's Kernow Reuse Shops have successfully diverted approximately 500 tonnes of waste from recycling centres over the last 18 months. These shops, which sell pre-loved items saved from landfill, have seen a significant uptake in popularity, with around 100,000 items finding new homes.
The initiative, which began with the first shop opening in Truro in early 2024, now boasts eight locations across Cornwall. These include sites in St Erth, Bude, St Austell, Falmouth, United Downs, Launceston, and most recently, Helston. The variety of goods available ranges from toys and sports equipment to furniture, homeware, and electricals.
