Now, the newly-formed Comrie Snowdrops group has an ambitious plan to transform the village into Scotland's first dedicated snowdrop destination. With £5,000 in lottery funding, they aim to plant 300,000 snowdrops along the 3km flood wall, creating a series of winter walking trails for visitors.
The group's spokesperson, Andrew Ryalls, expressed the community's strong attachment to the snowdrops, stating that it was "very raw to see them destroyed" during the early stages of the flood prevention work. But the successful rescue mission has fueled their determination to make Comrie a prime spot for the annual Scottish Snowdrop Festival, offering a free and accessible destination for all.
