Rebuilding efforts are in full swing at Clophill Lakes nature reserve in Bedfordshire, following a devastating arson attack last summer. The incident on August 2, 2025, resulted in the destruction of a wooden boardwalk, bins, and information boards.
The Greensand Trust, which manages the site, has successfully raised nearly £100,000 to fund the extensive repairs. This community-driven effort has been met with widespread support.
In addition to restoring the damaged infrastructure, new security measures, including CCTV, are being installed. This proactive step aims to better protect the reserve from future vandalism.
