Dog Field Closed After Sewer Flood Chaos

Heavy rainfall from Storm Claudia recently led to significant sewer flooding in Cirencester, prompting warnings for dog walkers. Four Acre Field has been declared unsafe and remains closed following the contamination.

Thames Water has been actively involved in decontaminating fields and gardens affected by the flooding, which occurred in the Countess Lilias Road and Chesterton Park areas. The surface water drain connected to the sewer was identified as the cause of the overflow.

Despite clean-up efforts by the water provider, Cirencester Town Council has maintained the closure of the dog field to ensure the safety of residents and their pets. An amber weather warning had been in effect for the region due to the storm's intensity.
