The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is proud to announce its 2026 Zoo Babies class, a diverse collection of newborns from 12 species, totaling over 30 individuals. This year's celebration includes the arrival of Jones and Morgan, two African penguin chicks who hatched in January. Anticipation is also building for new offspring from an Aruba island rattlesnake, and Tessa, a giraffe, is expecting her fifth calf.
This year marks a significant milestone as a blue duiker is included in the Zoo Babies celebration for the first time, underscoring the zoo's expanding conservation efforts. All zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) adhere to managed breeding programs designed to ensure the genetic diversity and health of species populations.
The annual Zoo Babies event, presented by General Electric Credit Union, will take place throughout May. This beloved tradition, which began in 1983, continues to showcase the wonders of new life at the zoo.
