A significant £69,000 from dormant member accounts has been distributed by the Channel Islands Coop to support seven diverse community projects. These initiatives, located across both Guernsey and Jersey, focus on environmental, social, and heritage enhancements. The funding was approved following the 2021 Annual Members' Meeting, aiming to reinvest unused cash into impactful island projects.
This first round of the Community Impact Fund has allocated grants to various organizations. Notable recipients include the Jersey Island Geopark, receiving £10,000 for educational resources, and a £7,500 grant over two years to support a town mobility buggy. Other funded projects aim to increase tree cover, boost biodiversity, restore grasslands, and celebrate heritage anniversaries. Applications for the next funding round are expected to open in early 2027.
