Summary
- Electric safari vehicles and eco-friendly boating facilities introduced.
- Revenue-sharing model adopted for tourism development.
- Project aims to boost local employment and cultural identity.

Chhattisgarh is redefining its eco-tourism landscape with the introduction of electric safari vehicles and enhanced boating facilities at Nandanvan Zoo and Jungle Safari in Naya Raipur. This forward-thinking initiative aims to establish the state as a premier eco-tourism destination by embracing green mobility solutions.
Seven electric buses and five electric gypsies have replaced traditional fuel-based transport within the safari zone, promising a quieter and more environmentally conscious wildlife experience. The initiative also expands water-based activities, with plans for kayaking and water cycles in subsequent phases. A significant shift includes the adoption of a revenue partnership model, encouraging private sector involvement in tourism infrastructure development. This approach allows for the introduction of modern amenities without substantial public spending.
This new model is projected to generate direct employment for 15 to 20 local youths in its initial phase, particularly in transport operations and visitor management. Beyond economic benefits, the project seeks to promote local cultural identity through a new souvenir shop featuring tribal and handicraft products. Forest officials emphasize the commitment to environmental protection and sustainable tourism, aligning with global trends towards green energy and reduced carbon emissions in wildlife tourism.
