Nature enthusiasts can now explore a serene 20-acre Forest Genetic Resources Tree Park, conveniently located just one kilometer from the bustling Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road in Chennai. This lush sanctuary offers a tranquil retreat with shaded walking paths meandering through mature trees and benches for relaxation. It is home to nearly 300 sapling species sourced from the Eastern and Western Ghats, serving as a living botanical laboratory.
The park is designed for visitors of all ages, featuring a dedicated children's play area and an enchanting butterfly park. Special attractions include the Bambusetum, showcasing diverse bamboo species, and the Ficatorium, which houses ten varieties of Ficus trees, both designed for research, conservation, and educational purposes. Rare tree species like sandalwood, teak, and cinnamon are among the highlights.
Open daily except Tuesdays, the park provides an affordable escape with entry fees set at 20 for adults and 5 for children. Battery-operated car rides are available for 20 per person.
