A remarkable rescue has unfolded near Dawson Creek, British Columbia, where a bear cub, discovered severely burned, is now recovering and being called a Christmas miracle by rescuers.
The cub was found buried in snow at the base of a tree on December 20th, in dire need of immediate care. Due to the remote location and harsh winter conditions, a lengthy nine-hour journey to the Northern Lights Wildlife Society headquarters in Smithers was required.
Dedicated volunteers facilitated the cub's arduous transport, first to Prince George and then to Smithers, ensuring she was kept warm throughout the trip. Angelika Langen, manager of the society, confirmed the cub suffered burns, likely from her hibernating slash pile catching fire, affecting her fur, face, and feet. Miraculously, the cub is expected to survive, a testament to the community's efforts and a true holiday wonder.
