Brough Residents Fear Emergency Access Due to Parking Chaos

Residents of Brough, East Yorkshire, are raising urgent concerns over road safety due to a significant increase in visitor parking. The congestion, attributed to commuters using the local train station, traffic from a primary school, and weekend sporting events, is making streets impassable, particularly for emergency services.

Homeowners on affected streets report difficulties squeezing vehicles out of their own driveways and express fears that ambulances, fire engines, and police cars cannot navigate the narrow, blocked roads. Residents are calling for immediate action, such as resident permits and parking restrictions, to reclaim their streets.

Councillor Richard Meredith has been advocating for solutions for over a decade, highlighting the escalating hazardous conditions. He proposes measures like double yellow lines on corners, single yellow lines for overnight restrictions, and resident-only permits near the station to prioritize locals.
