Bristol Bin Changes: Three-Weekly Collection Starts Soon
2 Feb
Summary
- Black bins will be collected every three weeks starting in May.
- Recycling collections remain weekly with new bags provided.
- A free fortnightly subscription for nappies will also be offered.

In May, South Gloucestershire Council will implement a new waste collection schedule, changing black bin collections to a three-weekly frequency. Residents will receive new, durable recycling bags for plastics, cans, foil, and soft plastics starting in February to facilitate this transition. Recycling collections will continue weekly, ensuring consistent service for recyclable materials.
This initiative aims to enhance recycling rates and streamline the waste management process. The council has awarded an eight-year contract to SUEZ for kerbside waste collection, emphasizing increased recycling options and more efficient, environmentally friendly services. Residents can also sign up for a free fortnightly subscription for nappies and absorbent hygiene products.
