Beverley Recycling Centre Closed for Bridge Repairs
13 Apr
Summary
- Beverley's waste recycling centre shut for three months.
- Weel Bridge, crossing River Hull, needs £1m renovation.
- Residents advised to use Hornsea, Driffield, or Hessle centres.

The household waste recycling centre in Beverley has temporarily closed for a three-month period to facilitate extensive renovation work on Weel Bridge. This £1m project aims to improve the 1950s bridge, which spans the River Hull. As a result, the bridge will be closed, with diversion routes established along Weel Road and the A1035.
During this closure, residents are directed to use the recycling centres located in Hornsea, Driffield, and Hessle. These alternative facilities are operational seven days a week from 10:00 to 17:00 BST.
The renovation scheme, initially scheduled to commence in November 2025, experienced a delay due to concerns raised by residents regarding pedestrian safety on the proposed diversion routes. The council stated that the recycling site's closure would also be utilized to upgrade its drainage, thereby reducing instances of future flooding.
