Bengaluru Chills: Light Rain & Dropping Temps Arrive
10 Jan
Summary
- Bengaluru expects light rainfall for two days with dropping temperatures.
- Cold wave conditions are predicted for north Interior Karnataka.
- A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal influences Bengaluru's weather.

Bengaluru is bracing for cooler weather as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light rainfall and a significant drop in temperatures for the next two days. This shift comes after a period of above-normal weather in early January, with temperatures already plunging across the city.
Similar weather conditions are expected to continue, with the IMD issuing warnings for light to moderate rainfall in several districts, including Bengaluru Urban and Rural. Concurrently, cold wave conditions are likely to prevail over parts of north Interior Karnataka for the next 24 hours.
The IMD attributes the dip in temperatures to a deep depression that moved over the southwest Bay of Bengal. While widespread rain is not anticipated, occasional drizzles and a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures are expected, giving Bengaluru a temporary winter-like feel. Maximum temperatures in the city are predicted to be around 26 degrees Celsius, and minimums around 15 degrees Celsius.
