12 Jun
Summary
- Monsoon has officially advanced across Karnataka, bringing widespread rain.
- Bengaluru expects light to moderate rain with strong winds and thunderstorms.
- Temperatures in Bengaluru are predicted to decrease, offering relief from heat.

The southwest monsoon has become active over Karnataka, signaling a welcome change from intense summer heat across India. Bengaluru is bracing for rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting these conditions to persist until June 15. This monsoon activity is expected to bring a noticeable drop in temperatures for the city.
The advance of the monsoon across nearly the entire state means Karnataka should prepare for a wet week. The weather department has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, particularly along the coastal belt. While intense activity is predicted for June 11 and 12, rainfall is expected to gradually reduce from June 14 onwards.
For Bengaluru specifically, forecasts indicate generally cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rain spells. Sustained winds of 30-40 kmph may accompany the showers. The city's minimum temperatures are anticipated to decline, offering relief. Today's forecast includes partly cloudy weather with a high of 30°C and a low of 20.9°C, with an estimated 57% probability of rain.
The strengthening monsoon currents over the Arabian Sea are favorable for its further advancement. Beyond Karnataka, the monsoon is also expected to expand into parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, while intensifying over the Bay of Bengal. Independent weather reports suggest widespread light to moderate rains across various districts, with a milder phase of the monsoon currently observed.
