A once-neglected wall near Sundaravana in Bengaluru has been transformed into an inspiring public art installation through the collaborative efforts of volunteers. Organizations including Rang 4 A Cause, CTFCT, Rotary Bengaluru HSR, and SayTrees joined forces to create a vibrant mural that celebrates environmental stewardship.
The artwork prominently features four renowned environmentalists: Saalumarada Thimmakka, Tulsi Gowda, Vandana Shiva, and Ra-hibai Soma Popare. It is further enriched with illustrations of native birds, butterflies, insects, reptiles, flowers, and trees, bringing the essence of an urban forest to life on the wall.
This pictorial narrative effectively traces Sundaravana's journey, aiding visitors in understanding its origin and purpose. The project involved more than 80 volunteers, including artists and non-artists, children, and seniors, who dedicated five to six days to its completion. The initiative, led by Rang 4 A Cause founder Raghav Uppar, aimed to create meaningful public art and educate the community.
The Sundaravana Wall Mural Project, costing approximately Rs 1,00,000, was primarily funded through social media campaigns. This community-driven effort has resulted in a visually stunning testament to collective spirit and environmental awareness.
