As of February, West Bengal has registered a remarkable 2.6 lakh green fuel vehicles, according to Amit Mitra, principal chief advisor to the Chief Minister. This figure comprises 75,965 two-wheelers, 1.6 lakh three-wheelers, and 17,822 motor cars.
The state is establishing itself as a leader in green development through a combination of innovative strategies. These include a thriving circular economy that supports women's self-help groups in shrimp farming, generating substantial export revenue.
Furthermore, West Bengal is expanding its renewable energy capacity, with solar power projects totaling 3,763 MW nearing completion, some with international backing. Conservation efforts are also prominent, featuring extensive mangrove plantations along coastlines and initiatives like 'Matir Srishti' and 'Jal Dharo Jal Bharo' to protect land and water resources.
