Beijing's Drainage Group Company has undertaken significant measures to combat the torrential rainfall associated with Typhoon Dolphin. The company mobilized approximately 2,700 flood-control workers and successfully pumped 12,000 cubic meters of rainwater by Wednesday morning.
A Level II flood-control response was initiated on Monday after the municipal meteorological observatory issued an orange alert for rainstorms. Personnel across all water plants and pumping stations have been on duty, with 252 emergency response units deployed. Monitoring indicated average precipitation of 16 millimeters across the operating area, with a peak of 60.9 mm recorded in the Dingfuzhuang area of Chaoyang district.
In preparation for the anticipated rainfall, 18 reclaimed water plants had previously increased their storage capacity by freeing up 323,000 cubic meters. Daily treatment volumes averaged nearly 4.4 million cubic meters, a notable increase from non-rainy periods.
