Bear chills in backyard pool amid SoCal heatwave

A black bear was recently observed seeking refuge from the extreme heat by lounging in a residential backyard pool in La Crescenta-Montrose, California. The unusual scene was captured on video this past Sunday afternoon.

The bear was seen approaching and entering a homeowner's spa, apparently unbothered by a barking dog nearby. This incident is the third camera-recorded bear sighting in the locality in recent weeks.

Experts attribute the bear's behavior to the scorching temperatures affecting Southern California over the weekend. Many areas experienced triple-digit heat, prompting widespread heat advisories and moderate to high heat-health risks.

Temperatures were approximately 5 to 10 degrees above average. The heatwave is expected to persist as August begins, according to meteorologists.
