Record Visitors Flock to Bannerughatta Park as Other Safaris Halt
6 Jan
Summary
- Bannerughatta Park saw record visitor numbers during the recent holiday season.
- Safari operations were halted in Kabini, Nagarhole, and Bandipur due to tiger attacks.
- A leopard attack incident led to temporary suspension of non-AC bus safaris at BBP.

Bannerughatta Biological Park (BBP) recorded unprecedented footfall between December 20, 2025, and January 5, 2026. The park welcomed 1,95,763 visitors, with 1,06,215 opting for safaris, marking a significant increase from previous years.
This boom is largely due to safari halts at other prominent reserves like Kabini and Bandipur, which were temporarily suspended after a series of tiger attacks. These closures redirected wildlife enthusiasts to BBP, contributing to its record-breaking season.
While BBP saw success, it also faced its own safety concerns. A leopard attack on a visitor in November 2025 led to a temporary suspension of non-AC bus safaris, which resumed after implementing stricter safety protocols, including mesh coverings for windows.
