First Asian Hornet Nest Found in Wales!

A concerning discovery has been made in Wales with the identification of the first invasive Asian hornet nest. Found near Wrexham, this non-native species poses a significant threat to the UK's native pollinators, particularly honeybees. The Asian hornet, known for its predatory behavior towards bees, can decimate colonies rapidly.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected sightings of these hornets. While not considered a greater risk to human health than native wasps, their impact on the ecosystem is severe. The Welsh government is coordinating efforts to destroy the nest and prevent the establishment of this harmful species.
