Andhra, Telangana Brace for Heavy Rains and Winds

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are anticipating significant weather disturbances on August 24, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds, due to a developing low-pressure system over the northwest Bay of Bengal. This system is drawing moisture inland, increasing the likelihood of precipitation across numerous districts in both states.

In Andhra Pradesh, North Andhra regions, including Polavaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and Kakinada districts, are likely to experience light to moderate rain with lightning. Coastal areas may face winds of 40-60 kmph, accompanied by rough seas and high waves. Fishermen have been strongly advised against venturing into the sea until Tuesday.

Telangana, particularly districts like Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally, could receive heavy rain at isolated places. Cities including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, and Medak are expected to encounter thunderstorms with winds around 30-40 kmph. Residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas have been urged to remain cautious.

Disaster management authorities in both states are actively monitoring the situation, directing officials to coordinate preparedness efforts and keep emergency response teams ready. The public has been advised to avoid standing under trees or near large hoardings during thunderstorms and strong winds to ensure safety.
