AP to Adopt Malaysian Waste & Housing Models

Municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana has announced that Andhra Pradesh will study and implement Malaysia's best practices in solid waste management and affordable housing.
During a two-day visit, Narayana focused on understanding Malaysia's advanced urban management systems. He observed technology-driven waste management mechanisms, recycling, and scientific landfill operations.
The minister visited the KDEB waste management office in Selangor and the Bukit Tagar Enviro Park, a large sanitary landfill. Officials provided detailed presentations on waste collection, segregation, processing, and environmentally safe disposal methods.
Narayana also explored affordable housing models developed by Malaysian companies like Berjaya group. Discussions were held with representatives from Sunway and Gamuda on urban housing and infrastructure.
This initiative aims to enhance waste management strategies and provide better living standards in Andhra Pradesh's urban areas, aligning with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's vision for cleaner cities.
