Summary
- AI assistant provides answers on sparrow behavior and conservation.
- Trust distributes nest boxes across India, including Delhi.
- Digital heat map tracks nest box installations for monitoring trends.

To commemorate World Sparrow Day 2026 on March 20, Chittukuruvigal Arakkattalai (Sparrow Trust India) has introduced an AI assistant on their website, chittukuruvigalarakkattalai.com. This dedicated assistant answers common questions about sparrow behavior, nesting, safe feeding, and urban conservation practices.
The AI tool serves as a digital volunteer for schools and nature clubs, providing quick, reliable guidance. Founder N Dhanasekar highlights the initiative as a tribute to nature and 12 years of conservation work. House sparrows, once common, are now found in select green areas.
The trust distributes specially designed nest boxes, which have reached cities like Jaipur, Kolkata, and Belagavi, with a recent report of use in Delhi. These pine wood boxes prevent predators and are suitable for terraces and walls. A new digital heat map on the website tracks nest box installations, aiding in monitoring sparrow visitation trends and planning future conservation drives.
The website also features the continuous chirping of house sparrows, allowing users to create a natural ambience at home or in offices. This sound feature is encouraged for use in schools to help children appreciate the bird's call. Partnerships for school programs or bulk nest box requests can be made via email.
