Ahmedabad is actively pursuing clean air and sustainable urban development goals as it prepares to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The city has identified nine pollution hotspot areas and implemented targeted action plans with enhanced monitoring. Significant progress has been made in utilizing grants received under the National Clean Air Programme and the 15th Finance Commission.
To combat pollution, 16 truck-mounted mist machines and 62 mechanical road sweeper machines are operational. For the construction sector, policies mandate dust sensors, air quality display boards, and CCTV systems at sites exceeding 20,000 square metres. Furthermore, 25 construction and demolition waste collection centres are developed, with a 1,000 TPD processing plant operational and another planned by December 2026.
