Four cats, a mother and her kittens, were discovered abandoned in a remote and dangerous location near Scarborough on Sunday. Two litter-pickers, conducting their routine clean-up, heard distressed meowing coming from a plastic cat carrier precariously situated down a steep bank. The animals were found alive by chance, prompting an immediate call to Filey Cat Rescue.
Rescuers from Filey Cat Rescue arrived on the scene and managed to bring the feline family to safety. The cats received essential veterinary treatment, a much-needed bath, and food. It is believed they were intentionally left in the secluded spot, with rescuers expressing shock at the cruelty involved.
The kittens, estimated to be nine to ten weeks old, and their mother are reportedly doing well. The rescue center is now seeking suitable foster homes while potential adoption applications are carefully screened.
