A14 Road Slips: Overnight Closures Begin
14 Jan
Summary
- A14 eastbound between junctions two and three near Kelmarsh to close nightly.
- Repairs to steep cutting sections prone to slips will take until April.
- Essential maintenance includes vegetation clearance and new drainage systems.

Essential maintenance work will lead to overnight closures on a section of the A14 eastbound carriageway. The affected stretch, between junctions two and three near Kelmarsh, Northampton, will be shut nightly from 21:00 to 06:00 BST, starting January 26th and concluding in April.
Engineers are set to repair steep cutting sections on the east side of the road, identified as areas that have previously suffered slips. This programme of improvements encompasses vegetation clearance, replacement of failing cutting sections, and the installation of new drainage systems to enhance road stability and safety.
During the scheduled overnight closures, a clearly signed diversion route will be in operation for motorists. Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the duration of the works, ensuring public safety remains a priority. The maintenance is anticipated to be completed by April.
