Massive Waste Mountain Found Near A1
25 Feb
Summary
- A 40-tonne waste heap dumped near the A1 is under investigation.
- The 20m long fly-tip contains building, household, and organic waste.
- Authorities suspect organised criminals are responsible for the dumping.

Authorities are investigating a massive illegal dump of approximately 40 tonnes of waste discovered near the A1 in Nottinghamshire. The rubbish, described as a "mountain" and measuring roughly 20 metres in length, was found in Tinker Lane, close to Barnby Moor.
The Environment Agency confirmed the illegal deposit was reported on January 25 and is currently being cleared. The waste material appears to be a mix of building, household, and organic refuse.
Local district councillor Darrell Pulk expressed strong condemnation, suggesting organised criminals are responsible for dropping the waste across multiple visits. He characterized the perpetrators' actions as "despicable" and driven by profit rather than convenience.
Due to the significant size and potential hazards associated with this fly-tip, the cleanup responsibility has fallen to Nottinghamshire County Council and the Environment Agency, rather than the local authority. The Environment Agency has stated they are actively investigating these instances of "environmental vandalism" with shared community disgust.
