- ₹16 crore project to upgrade Ring Road verges and west Delhi barriers.
- Beautification targets Rajghat depot to Loha Pul stretches.
- Safety barriers to be installed on Najafgarh Road and other key roads.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is undertaking a significant ₹16 crore project to improve the streetscape and safety along Delhi's Ring Road and key west Delhi roads. This dual initiative includes beautifying central verges and installing new crash barriers.
The beautification efforts will concentrate on the central verges from the Rajghat depot to Loha Pul, and from Hanuman Setu to Changdi Ram Akhara. This part of the project is estimated at ₹8.63 crore and is slated for completion within four months.
Concurrently, a crucial safety upgrade will involve the installation of precast crash barriers, also known as jersey barriers. These reinforced cement concrete barriers will be fixed along the Najafgarh Road stretch between Raja Garden Chowk and Subhash Nagar Chowk, as well as on 80-foot Chowkhandi Road and Sant Bairwa Marg. This safety enhancement project carries an estimated cost of ₹7.23 crore and is expected to take six months to complete, with a strong emphasis on compliance with environmental and construction debris disposal guidelines.
