Summary
- Two new public play areas are being designed for Whitehaven.
- Consultation event is scheduled for January 29 at Bransty School.
- One playground targets older children, the other preschoolers.

Cumberland Council is moving forward with plans to enhance Whitehaven's recreational facilities by introducing two new, modern play areas. Residents are being actively encouraged to participate in the design process through a public consultation. This engagement is a crucial step in ensuring the new playgrounds meet the community's needs and preferences.
The consultation event is scheduled to take place at Bransty School on January 29. For those unable to attend in person, an online survey will also be available, providing a convenient way for everyone to share their input. The council aims to gather feedback on equipment and overall design to create vibrant play spaces.
One proposed play area will be situated within the grounds of Bransty School, intended for children aged four and older, and will be accessible to the public outside of school hours. The second location is near new community gardens, close to Harbour View Nursing home, and will be specifically designed for preschool-aged children, ensuring age-appropriate play opportunities for Whitehaven's youngest residents.
