Conducted on May 24, 2026, the examination saw approximately 5.49 lakh candidates appearing. These candidates are competing for 933 vacancies within the Civil Services and an additional 80 posts in the Indian Forest Service (IFoS).
Following the exam, the UPSC released a provisional answer key on May 28, 2026. Historically, results have been declared between 15 to 17 days after the preliminary examination. Last year, the results were made public on June 11, 2025, for an exam held on May 25, 2025. Candidates are advised to monitor the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in, for the official notification and result PDF.
The result PDF, once released, will list the names and roll numbers of candidates who meet the Prelims cutoff and qualify for subsequent stages. Details regarding marks, cutoffs, and the final answer key will be published on the website only after the complete Civil Services Examination 2026 process concludes.
