UP Schools: New Safety Net for Girls After Warden Abuse
27 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Visitors to monitor student well-being every 15 days.
- Quarterly surprise inspections mandated for all KGBVs.
- Locked dropboxes installed for students to report concerns.

In response to an alleged assault by a hostel warden in October, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented new safety protocols for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs). Eminent women from the Aakanksha Samiti will now visit schools every 15 days to address student concerns and suggest improvements, ensuring a consistent oversight.
Furthermore, all KGBVs will undergo mandatory quarterly surprise inspections conducted by three-member teams, including education officials. This initiative aims to proactively identify and rectify any deficiencies. Students will also have access to locked dropboxes for anonymously reporting grievances, with prompt action promised for serious issues.
