The Uttar Pradesh Board (UP Board) has directed educational institutions to facilitate the recording of students' 12-digit APAAR IDs. This initiative aims to establish a secure and transparent digital academic record for each student, spanning their entire educational journey from school to higher studies. The APAAR ID, conceptualized as 'One Nation, One Student ID,' is intended to serve as a permanent digital identity.
This digital identifier will consolidate academic achievements, report cards, and certificates, which can be securely stored in DigiLocker. This digital archiving significantly reduces the risk of document loss or damage. The UP Board emphasizes that the APAAR ID will simplify access to scholarships, welfare schemes, and educational opportunities for students.
Furthermore, the board has reinforced the requirement for schools to verify students' dates of birth with valid documentation at the time of initial admission. This measure addresses issues arising from discrepancies in recorded ages. Schools must now ensure that the date of birth recorded on High School certificates and mark sheets is backed by appropriate proof.
For initial admission, a birth certificate is the preferred document. If unavailable, alternative acceptable proofs include records from hospitals or ANMs, anganwadi records, local birth and death registers, or an affidavit from parents or guardians. Schools are also instructed to clearly note the document used to record the date of birth in their official records.
