UNR achieved a national ranking of 347, surpassing the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), which was ranked 653rd nationally and second within the state. These rankings were determined through a comprehensive analysis of data from federal agencies and educational research organizations.
The methodology encompassed seven key areas: student selectivity, cost and financing, faculty resources, campus safety, campus experience, educational outcomes, and career outcomes. WalletHub utilized metrics such as ACT/SAT scores for selectivity, net cost for affordability, student-to-faculty ratios, campus crime statistics, international student presence, graduation rates, and post-graduation employment and salary data.
UNR demonstrated particular strengths in the cost and financing category, ranking 176th, and in career outcomes, placing 180th. However, its performance in campus experience (601st) and faculty resources (578th) were areas for improvement. The university also ranked 306th in campus safety, 416th in student selectivity, and 440th in educational outcomes, reflecting a mixed but overall strong performance statewide.
